This infusion of spice with lentils and spinach makes for a healthy low fat treat before a meal.


  • In a deep microwave glass bowl,combine the garlic, onion and oil and microwave on medium power for 1 minute.
  • Mix in the soaked dal and water and microwave on high power for 15 minutes, pausing and stirring after every 3 minutes in microwave oven. Take care that there is no spillage of water which rises to the top.
  • Add the spinach, mix well and microwave for 5 minutes. Mix in the lemon juice and salt and microwave for 30 seconds. Leave to stand for 5 minutes before serving.
