Rice is one of the easiest things to make in a microwave.


  • In a 2 litre glass casserole, combine the water, salt and rice.
  • Cover and microwave on high power for 8 minutes, pausing to stir after every 4 minutes in microwave Oven.
  • Microwave on medium power for 6 minutes till rice is tender and hardly any liquid is left at the bottom.
  • Remove from microwave, fluff with fork and leave to stand for 2 minutes before serving to ensure that remaining water gets absorbed.


500 ml water
To taste salt
250 gms long-grain rice, washed, soaked for 10 minutes and drained
